Required Amount
For a 6-month visa, you must prove at least 6 × 934 € = 5,604 € in the blocked account. This amount is based on the current minimum rate of 934 € per month (as of 2023).
Opening Process
Opening a blocked account can be done online with various German banks. Popular providers include Deutsche Bank, Fintiba, or Coracle. The process usually takes 1-3 weeks.

The opening fee ranges from 50 € to 150 € depending on the provider

Career Path in German Medicine: From Resident Doctor to Chief Physician
The path to becoming a chief physician in Germany follows a structured career trajectory with various qualification levels and areas of responsibility.
IMPORTANT: Regardless of your medical title, position, or years of experience in your home country, you must start your medical career in Germany as a Resident Doctor (Assistenzarzt). This is a mandatory requirement in the German medical system. Even if you were a specialist, senior physician, or held a higher position abroad, German regulations require you to begin at the Resident Doctor level. This ensures proper integration into the German healthcare system, familiarity with local procedures, and verification of your medical competencies according to German standards.
Resident Doctor - 56,000-70,000€ - Your German Career starts here
4-6 years, specialty training with rotation through various departments under supervision
Specialist - 80,000-110,000€
2-5 years, independent practice after passing specialist examination
Senior Physician - 120,000-150,000€
3-8 years, management of smaller wards or teams, responsibility for complex cases
Lead Senior Physician - 150,000-180,000€
2-5 years, deputy to the chief physician, coordination of multiple areas
Chief Physician - 200,000-350,000€
After approx. 15-20 years of professional experience, overall management of a department or hospital
The duration of each career stage can vary depending on specialty, hospital type, and personal qualifications. Additional academic credentials such as habilitation and professorship can accelerate the career path and are often prerequisites for chief physician positions at university hospitals.
Besides clinical experience, publications, teaching activities, management skills, and networks within the medical community are crucial for advancement.
